Duin Honored for Religion Reporting

Julia Duin, associate professor of journalism, was honored with several awards at the annual Religion Newswriters Association awards ceremony in Washington, DC. Religion reporters from across the country gathered at the annual event on Saturday, October 6th.

In the Religion Reporter of the Year (Large Newspapers) category, Duin was awarded the third place award for her work at The Washington Post Magazine.

In the Religion News Report of the Year category, Duin won the second place award for her work on The Washington Post Sunday Magazine.

In the Supple Religion Feature Writer of the Year category, Duin won the second place award for her work on The Washington Post Magazine.

Duin is also the author of five books, most recently 2009′s Days of Fire and Glory: The Rise and Fall of a Charismatic Community. In the past year her work has appeared in publications from coast to coast including the Wall Street Journal, USA TodayCNN.com, and The Seattle Times.

Duin joined the Communication Arts faculty in August 2012 and serves as the faculty adviser to Union’s campus newspaper The Cardinal & Cream.
